This is pretty cool, Speedtest.net is a new bandwidth tester with a nice Flash frontend, test servers around the world and the ability to easily share your results…

It’s in Flash 8 and the site very considerately says they’ll have a Flash 7 version for Linux users up soon, but I ran it fine in Ubuntu using Windows Firefox + Flash 8 through wine.

Ubuntu just keeps getting better!

It took some messing around but I’ve now got Flex2 Builder working as a plugin in Eclipse (no visual editor but code hinting’s fine), MXMLC compiling, and Flash Player 9 installed in Firefox (through WINE) for testing the end result… of course there’s gotta be a million ways of improving the process but I was kind of shocked it worked at all
