FlexBuilder on Linux… what’s happening?
I’ve been using FlexBuilder on Ubuntu for several months now, it’s got it’s oddities and the design view is missing but it mostly works fine. I’m currently using Alpha2, and it’s now telling me it runs out in 18 days. The fcsh says it will expire in 3 days. The discussion group on Labs seems to have been wiped recently and there’s zero feedback from Adobe there. There is currently no option to buy FB for linux on the Adobe site.
So Adobe, what’s going on? Is there going to be an A3? B1? Are we ever gonna get design view? When can I buy the damn thing? Is anybody out there??

Hey! Let’s everybody shout! Is everybody out there ? Can someone from Adobe answer something to this ?

“Are we ever gonna get design view?”
From what I heard, the design view code for Flex Builder comes from the Flash Authoring design view, and this code is heavily rooted to either Windows APIs or Mac OSX APIs. To bring it to Linux would be a heavy undertaking. Eclipse was already very cross-platform. Flash and other Creative Suite products are not. It may happen eventually, but unless there’s heavy demand, I predict that Adobe will probably keep it on the back burner.

I’m also curious about this. I used it for awhile in ubuntu as well and was fairly happy with it (who uses the design view anyway). everyday linux gets closer to being my daily os of choice…

@Josh, make sense, shouldn’t hold back a next release though. I found it handy to quickly rough out layouts at first but as Steven points out it’s not required.
I’ve not really noticed any issues with the Alphas, but then I’ve only done very light work with FB, so it’d also be interesting to hear what’s holding it back, is there an issue list anywhere?

re: Josh’s comments - I regard any ‘reason’ like that from a software house as a total cop-out, and excuse not to make the extra programming effort to bring this to another platform.
I mean, flex builder for windoze and macos was made by programmers. If they cannto program the same thing for linus, then I cannot see a justification for them calling themselves programmers.
This really is a simple process of code-porting - and adobe will know how to that as well as anyone else.
I am a programmer myself, I understand the processes involved. they are just leaving this on a backburner because they simply don’t want to
