‘Send Later’ from Gmail with Boomerang

By default Gmail doesn’t include any way of scheduling your email sends. If you’re a nocturnal coder like me sending clients emails at 4am can give the wrong impression, so I’ve been looking for a way of scheduling them to be sent first thing in the morning instead.

I just found what seems like quite a good one, Boomerang for Gmail, which when installed adds a bunch of handy new functionality to your standard Gmail interface…

Send Later

Exactly what I needed and seems to work fine…

Follow up reminders

Quite handy, the email re-appears in your inbox at a given date/time to remind you to follow up…

Reminders if you don’t hear back

Also quite handy, only be reminded if you don’t get a reply by a certain time…

Magic!

Hmm, thought magic was copyright Apple these days, anyway this parses your emails for dates and auto suggests handy reminders…

The plugin is currently available for ‘pay what you think it’s worth’ and is free to install, so there’s nothing stopping you giving it a try at least. They also have an ‘email cleanup’ game that awards you points for swiftly handling your emails, nice idea!

It’s also from quite a cool little 3 person startup, Baydin, who have a very fun post about how they got $100k initial funding from a 40 minute car drive!
