…hello MediaMonkey!
At last I’ve found something to take over from ol’ iTunes, which has been noticably feeling the strain since my MP3 library passed the 10,000 tune mark. MediaMonkey seems to load & work quickly, it’s library management is light years ahead of iTunes, and best of all it’s amazingly easy to extend with simple VBScripting.
Expect a few MediaMonkey scripts in the near future, I’m currently working on one that emulates the ‘now playing’ tab of Amarok (which I also love, but it only runs on *nix), and after that I’m gonna try sticking some Flash in there (perhaps for a nice interactive ‘browse by album art’ type view)
woooo…. More posts at last.
I thoroughly endorse media monkey. I had a hard drive fail on me, but managed to recover the data, 300gb of mp3′s BUT all the files lost their filename and the directory structure was mangled beyond belief. It took a while, but media monkey neatly worked through all this stuff and sorted it neatly via the ID tags. with a bit of scripting it even managed to figure out if it was part of comilation or mixtape (which itunes always buggered up for me) and put everything in neat little genre/artist/album/track num – artist – title.mp3 folders for me. Saved me days of heartache.
I too am a big fan of Amarok and recently found MediaMonkey for my Windows machine (which I must admit I use more). So if those scripts you mentioned ever eventuate, I’d certainly be downloading them.
